Opera auditions: clarification

Hi folks, Just to clarify: auditions for the fall opera/musical theatre scenes will NOT take place on Sunday, August 15. Those are choir auditions. To be in the scenes, COME TO CLASS during the first week and plan to sing something from memory then. Class meets Tuesday and Thursday in Hulsey Recital Hall from 3:30-5:15. Bring music for the pianist: there will be no unaccompanied auditions. Thanks!

Do you think it would be possible to have a small run-through with the accompanist before the audition?

Possible. Let's see what Ms. Reynolds is able to do! Best to be prepared enough that all you have to do is put the music in front of her, tell her your tempo, and go. You'll be FINE--don't fret! :-)

I don't know if you'd consider having an all boy or an all girl chorus number, but

For all girl, "Mama Who Bore Me" from Spring Awakening is really beautiful and also really current.

Also, great chorus songs from Spring Awakening are "The Song of Purple Summer" and "My Junk". The latter of which has a lot of short different featured solos (I think 10), which would be really great.

Also, for a two person scene, "I Don't Do Sadness/Blue Wind" (also from Spring Awakening, Surprise!) is heart wrenchingly wonderful.
