How to audition for opera workshop in the fall
Class meets Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-5:15 in Hulsey Recital Hall. If you are interested in being part of the workshop (or wonder if you *might* want to be part of it), bring one MEMORIZED piece in English. Bring a copy of your music for the accompanist: no a cappella singing allowed for this audition. Since the plan is to do an evening od musical theatre (perhaps with some opera scenes mixed in), musical theatre songs are encouraged but not required.
No need to register right away: I'll need to hear everyone before casting, and this gives anyone who might be on the fence a chance to "test drive" the class. Just come prepared to sing and have fun! The first day of class is Tuesday, August 17: we'll do some improvisation exercises that day and have auditions for the scenes on the 19th. The cast list will be posted in time for you to register before the drop/add deadline of August 24.
Feel free to post here with any questions, or email me.

Do you want classical type musical theater (Oklahoma, etc.) or is any kind of musical theater ok?
And yes, I'm asking because I am going to be able to do Opera Scenes in the fall after all.
I'm open to almost anything...except RENT and PHANTOM, as you can imagine! Classical stuff is a great place to start, but there's also a lot of wonderful Sondheim out there, for example. Glad you'll be joining us.
I really love "Spring Awakening." It's a very young and modern musical that touches on subjects we can all relate to at our age. There are a number of chorus scenes in which several characters sing solos, so several individuals could have a chance to sing as well.
Some other, more classical/operatic, options are Man of La Mancha, Candide, and maybe even Camelot.
Just throwing ideas out there!

Personally, I would love to see some scenes from "Les Miserables", "Fiddler on the Roof", "Last Five Years", "Spring Awakening", and "Oklahoma".
